Jan Hus Bursík jr.
Jan H. Bursík jr., a violinmaker from Brno, Czech Republic, was born on 31 March 1976 as the first son of master violinmaker Jan H. Bursík.
He studied the art of violinmaking in Luby by Cheb in the years 1993 – 1996 and got his work experience while working in his father’s workshop. He made his first instrument at the age of fourteen. In the years 1996 – 1998 while working in his father’s workshop he attended the High school of trading in Brno which he terminated by passing the school-leaving examination. He then developed his artistic skills during the internship at violinmakers Vladimír and Tomáš Pilař in Hradec Králové in 2004. Three years after, he became a member of the Czech circle of Masters Violinmakers.
Jan H. Bursík jr. specializes in making violins, violas and cellos of Stradivari and Guarneri model. He participated with his violins in the violinmaking competition in Mittenwald (Germany) in 2001, 2005 and 2010, Cremona (Italy) in 2003 and 2012 and Posen (Poland) in 2006 and 2011.
